The role
Take ownership of accurate carpentry from structural work through to a high-quality finish.
Tom is looking for an experienced carpenter who can plan and carry out their own work across new builds, extensions and renovations. You will be comfortable working from drawings, setting out accurately and coordinating with other trades. The role suits someone who can solve practical problems on site, support less-experienced team members and keep workmanship consistent from the first fix to the final details.
Pay: Pay agreed with Tom, based on your experience, qualifications and the responsibilities of the role.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and set out carpentry work from agreed drawings and site measurements
- Carry out structural timber and first-fix work within the agreed design
- Complete second-fix fitting and finishing to a consistent standard
- Coordinate junctions and work sequences with the rest of the building team
- Identify problems early, discuss solutions with Tom and guide less-experienced colleagues
Experience and requirements
- Strong experience across first- and second-fix residential carpentry
- A relevant trade qualification or demonstrably equivalent practical experience
- Confidence reading drawings, setting out and checking your own work
- Ability to organise tasks independently and communicate clearly with other trades
- Examples of completed work and references that demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail
